Last night, the Haitian Ambassador to the U.S., Raymond Joseph, spoke at the University Area Community Development Center in Tampa. The town hall meeting was held to discuss the current state of Port-au-Prince, Haitian relief efforts and the future of the country.
Ambassador Joseph urged a room of concerned Haitian and American citizens to have mercy on Haitian leadership for the way they responded to the earthquake that leveled Port-au-Prince last month.
Joseph assured the audience that the Haitian government is completely intact. He says that the cabinet is meeting each morning but reconstruction will take some time.

Joseph said that yesterday morning Haitian Prime minister Jean-Max Bellerive admitted that Haiti has a lot of precious minerals but not the technology nor the resources to exploit them.
Although Joseph says Haiti must learn to partner with other countries, many partnerships are forming in this country to help aid Haitian citizens.
There was a memorial service for the victims of the earthquake Friday in downtown Tampa at Curtis Hixon Waterfront Park, and there will be another tomorrow (Saturday) in St. Petersburg at 5:00 pm at North Straub Park. Ambassador Raymond Joseph will attend both memorials.
