I am so proud to announce that yours truly, Bobby Pickles, is actively teaching an Intro to Screen-Printing class on Saturdays at Works In Progress NYC located at 59 East 4th Street in the East Village of Manhattan. WIP is a 501-c3 that works with high school kids each semester providing credits and internships, and now they're opening up these classes to the public! And I shall be teaching them! If you reside in the New York Metropolitan Area or plan on visiting soon, and you would like to learn the fine art of silk screen printing from a mastermind - feel free to reach out to me, Pickles, via email, the FAT ENZO HOTLINE (866) 970-9997 or just call the shop (212) 598-0046 and ask for Emily (she's a sweetheart).
Students are taught the ins and outs of the garment decorating industry. They will learn how to prepare their artwork for print, coat and shoot screens, the proper methods of applying inks, the various kinds of inks and squeegees and equipment, etc. Each student will walk away with a very comprehensive knowledge of the art form (for an Intro class) for I, Bobby Pickles, am a natural born genius at teaching folk.
The six-hour course is $100 and it includes a design of your own burned onto a screen and printed by you on a tee shirt, which you may keep. Students also have the option of purchasing more blank apparel at wholesale (print however many additional pieces you would like). So, if you're an artist looking to diversify your portfolio or an entrepreneur looking to start a graphic tee shirt business or you just want to be entertained by an egocentric sociopath who harbors an innate gift of gab -- SIGN UP TO LEARN HOW TO SCREEN PRINT WITH BOBBY PICKLES!! At the end of the class, you will be smarter than you were prior to it, scout's honor (although I was never an eagle scout).
Hello. I’m Bobby Pickles. What’s your name? Stimulating!
Or perhaps it would be more culturally and/or historically accurate if the word of the day were “pioneering” or “trailblazing” or “innovating”…
Any of these can be used to describe today’s guest, Dave Reynard, the “glass dildo king” of Florida – actually, of the world. For Mr. Reynard is the inventor of and holds the patents to borosilicate glass sex toys. Before he and his company, Knowmind Enterprises, had brought them to market, no one had done it. The only people blowing glass were stoners manufacturing marijuana pipes. Today, however, there are a plethora of imitators. But the level of R&D orchestrated by his company is still unmatched in the industry. It’s something that was first documented back in the early 2000s on HBO’s Real Sex episode 27. HBO followed Dave, and business partner Steve Ritchie, around for eight days as they designed and manufactured these groundbreaking products, and conducted one of their infamous research and development excursions, which essentially entails shuttling around about four to eight single women and/or couples by boat throughout the vast waters of Tampa Bay, where their products are tested in real-time in order to gauge practical application. These “toys”, which Knowmind turns out, have been referred to as the “Rolls Royce of glass dildos” and for good reason. If anybody out there in the interwebs would like to purchase any of these awesome, impeccably crafted creations, they can click the link on the show page at Bobby Pickles dot Com, plus you will be simultaneously supporting the podcast. Dave has assured us that glass is a much healthier way to go, better than the traditional rubber, acrylic and plastic (or RAPs), and you can heat or freeze them, they won’t stain or smell, lubricants last longer, plus they’re a functional work of art (store them on your bookshelf).
But Dave is anything but a one-horse man. An ex-cop, ham radio operator and top-notch marketer, Reynard is also the inventor of the cyclocharger, a new kind of intake valve, or throttle body, which is basically a split butterfly valve to be used in engines and generators. The cyclocharger is under development in the Tampa Bay Area and is patented under patent number 6,959,690 with the United States Patent Office. Licensing is now available in many markets for practical application in new car, after market, carburation, racing, fuel injection, turbocharging and supercharging. He’s also the original inventor of the cellular telephone, allegedly, which is one of the topics of discussion on this episode of the podcast. Furthermore, he is an amateur physicist who penned a hypothesis entitled, “The Relationship of Time and Gravity: Understanding cold fusion, the big bang(s), black holes, time travel, particle physics, and the theory of everything, while violating the least laws of physics.” The PDF of which can also be downloaded below.
The following podcast was conducted on January 3rd 2014 from Dave’s boat, docked along the intracoastal waterways of Madeira Beach, Florida. Originally, the plan was to conduct the podcast at District 33 and a 3rd, which is the name my cohort, Ben Coletti, coined in reference to sandbar located a few hundred yards away from the mouth of Johns Pass, where, on any given weekend, boaters raft-up to party and have a good time. It’s where Dave can usually be found consuming mimosas, commiserating with tourists and natives alike, and perhaps even doing a bit of R&D, from 5pm Friday until Sunday evening. Anyways, this conversation just scratched the surface of Dave Reynard, the “glass dildo king”, so we’re going to follow up with him this summer. But for now, let’s just say hello to a very interesting, unconventional person. We talk sales, dildos and cell phones, among other things, and I’m confident you will enjoy the following discussion.
